I didn't have time to post any art this week - but I did go figure drawing on Tuesday so I thought I'd put up a few drawings from that. The model is one I've drawn before and I love drawing her because she's so curvy. I like the exaggeration in the hips of the middle drawing.
2008 is off to a great start. The future seems to be filled with so many possibilities and it's exciting. I feel good and I feel inspired.
I really want to draw more this year. I'm always trying to draw more but it can be tough to find the energy when you have a full time job. Last night I went to a drop in figure drawing class with my very talented friend, Karen Klassen (to anyone who hasn't visited her blog, you must. It's amazing: www.karenklassen.blogspot.com). It felt so good to exercise my people drawing muscle. The model was great, lots of variety in her poses and she had a very round and curvy body that was fun to sketch. Here are some of my drawings from last night:
I've been away for a few days - the boy and I went to visit my family out in small town Saskatchewan. Just before we left I went to a drop in figure drawing session. I recently discovered that I couldn't draw a person in a simple pose without using reference and decided that I should get back in to practice. I wasn't trying to draw her realistically or proportionately, I was more interested in figuring out where the bones and muscles were so that I could better exaggerate them. Here are some of my sketches from that session...
