pages from my second travel journal, part II
These pages are from our time in Paris. I really enjoyed the paper bags that the baguettes came in.

pages from my second travel journal, part 1
During the year and a half that my husband and I spent in Europe, I went through one and a half sketchbooks and 3 travel journals. I've posted work from my sketchbooks all along and I've already posted some pages from the 1st journal (here, here and here) that I filled while we were living in Scotland.
Here are some pages from my second travel journal, documenting the end of our time in the UK:

(I love this quote :)

naples, ercolano, pompei, sorrento
Naples was an interesting experience - very chaotic and intense but a cool city to see nonetheless. They had the most delicious and affordable pizza. While there, we took day trips to Ercolano, Pompei and Sorrento. The ruins at Ercolano were very well preserved and were more interesting to me than the ones at Pompei, but Pompei was really impressive due to the size of the ruins there. Sorrento was beautiful with its rocky cliffs, but very touristic and a lot pricier than the other places we visited in that area.
These photos are all from the ruins in Ercolano:

bari, italy
We only spent a few days in Bari back in September, but we had a really great time. One of my favorite old towns was in Bari. It was a maze of skinny, winding streets full of religious shrines. We spent an afternoon taking photos of as many as we could find. We ended up with tons of photos, too many to post. Here's just a taste...

the end of our adventure
The last time I posted here we were still living in Sarajevo, Bosnia & Herzegovina, and just getting ready to leave on the final leg of our adventure. When we left, we went to Croatia, then to Italy, then back to Scotland, and finally home. After roughly a year and a half of living and traveling in Europe, we're now finally back in Canada.
It's nice to be back, to see all of the friends and family that we hadn't seen in so long. But it's also quite an adjustment. We need to figure out where we should live, find an apartment, find jobs, and start making a life again.
Now that we're back in Canada I should have consistent access to the internet so posting will be more regular again. I do have sketchbook work, some painted pieces and lots of photos to share so stay tuned.

bosnian food
A little while ago, the man who lives next door invited my husband and I over to learn how to make paprike, stuffed peppers. I recorded the lesson in my travel journal and then made it for us a few days later, using peppers and tomatoes. Don't let my bad photography fool you; it tasted really good.
