Watch out for this guy
The very talented and very funny Jason Mathis has recently redesigned his website: www.jasonmathis.ca . It's loaded with really cool paintings such as assorted comical toasters and people dressed up as batman. Jason's quite a character and has interesting opinions and ideas. I recommend his blog as well.
For anyone who'll be in the Calgary area, he has a show called "Ersatz Bats” going up in The New Gallery’s +15 window at the Epcor centre. It will be up from the first week of April until the end of May. The reception is on May 15th in the evening.

gotta love a clean workspace
I had the most wonderful and productive day!
• I took the day off from work (my day job is doing design in an advertising department)
• didn't sleep in. I actually got up and showered and had a proper breakfast.
• cleaned and reorganized my art studio
• finished going through about 6 years of old paperwork, bank statements, bills and such and I set up my new filing system - in a real filing cabinet that fits perfectly under my drawing table/desk (thanks mom).
(the old filing system)
(the new system)
• cooked myself a healthy lunch
• drank 3 mugs of tea
• watched the food network
It was great. And now that my studio's so nice and clean I'm going to paint in it all day tomorrow.

stacked luggage
©2008
This is a painting I did of some vintage suitcases and an old trunk. It was born of a rejected sketch I had done for another project, but I liked it and wanted to finish it anyway. It's being donated to a silent auction at the Calgary Crime Stoppers' Gala at the end of this month.
March update
I feel badly about neglecting this blog for so long, but I'm afraid it couldn't be helped. In addition to being very busy lately, our internet has been down a lot due to a faulty router. But I think we have the problem fixed... fingers crossed.
Here's what I've been up to:
• I just finished a CD design/illustration project that I'd been working on for a while. I'm just waiting on final approval from my client before it goes to print. It's very exciting - I can't wait to see it all finished. I can't post the art for it yet, but I will put it up as soon as I am able to.
• I did a painting for a silent auction fund raiser for Calgary Crime Stoppers. I'll post that soon.
• I have a list of illustration projects that don't have deadlines that I work on when I have free time. It's a really long list... I've been working on sketches but nothing I can post yet.
• I'm still teaching my class one evening per week - although the semester is almost over. I really love it and hope to do more teaching in the future.
